University of Edinburgh Scholarships

The University of Edinburgh is one of those concerned institutions that work toward providing scholarships for international students, including Indians, for their academic goals.

1. India Merit Scholarship

The University of Edinburgh furnishes this scholarship who intend to pursue an excellent postgraduate taught (PGT) program from India at the university. It is worth £ 5,000 as a fee waiver for the first year of study in the academic year of 2025/26.

Entry Requirements:

  • Admission Status: A candidate accepts an unconditional offer to study any full-time, on-campus PGT Master's program at the University of Edinburgh unconditionally.
  • Residency: The candidates should be domiciled in India during the time of application.
  • Fee Status: Candidates should have international fee status. 
  • Funding: This scholarship is open to students who are self-financed 100% or partially.
  • Academic Qualifications: Candidates must present an undergraduate degree from India with minimum grades. Most programs generally require at least 80% marks for admissions, which translates into 9.0 on a ten-point scale. In the case of some Business School programs, even higher than 90% on a 100% scale or above 9.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale may be set as minimum marks.
  • Application Process: Scholarship consideration is automatic for students in receipt of unconditional offers and satisfying conditions for eligibility. The scholarship of £5,000 is offset against the tuition fee balance on admission.

2. GREAT Scholarship

As part of their GREAT Britain initiative with the British Council, the University of Edinburgh offers scholarships, to the tune of £10,000, to five students from Thailand, India, Spain, Mexico, and Nigeria. The value of the scholarship is for tuition for one year of a Master's program concerning the academic session 2025-2026.

Entry Requirements:

  • Residency and Nationality: The candidates should be residents and nationals of Thailand, India, Spain, Mexico or Nigeria.
  • Admission Requisite: The applicants must have received an offer for a full-time on-campus one-year postgraduate program at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Selection Criteria: The award is strictly academic merit-based. A candidate is anticipated to possess, the overseas equivalent of at least a UK first-class honours degree-level qualification.
  • Application Process: Eligible candidates must fill out an online scholarship application. At the initial stage, admission within the University of Edinburgh must be applied before getting access to the application system. Candidates should also know that it may take about five working days after submission of the application before all system screening is finished to provide access.

3. Undergraduate Mathematics Scholarships for Global Edinburgh Students

Program awarded to international undergraduates who are registered at the University of Edinburgh to pursue a degree in mathematics-related programs. Each scholarship awards £5,000 per annum and covers the entire period of study, depending on satisfactory academic progress.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Admission Status: The applicant must have applied for a full-time undergraduate degree course in Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Fee Structure: The applicant must have been charged overseas rates of tuition fees and be self-financing.
  • Application Process: They must also fill out an online scholarship application for all except eligible applicants.

4. Robertson International Scholarships

Five international scholarships are open to full-time undergraduate programs at the School and each award is worth £1,400 for one year.   

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Admission Status: An application submitted for a full-time undergraduate degree course in the School of History and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Fee Structure: All self-funding applicants will incur the rate of tuition fees applicable to international students. 

5. Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies International Scholarship 

Two scholarships will be given to international students who are admitted to the full-time BA Veterinary Practice and Surgery course at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies. Each scholarship will cover the award value of £5,000 per annum on a cost-effective basis covering the entire program on condition of making satisfactory academic progress.

  • Admission Status: A candidate must have received an offer of a place on a full-time undergraduate course in the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery program at the University of Edinburgh.
  • Fee Status: Applicants should be responsible for paying the international rate of tuition fees and be self-funded.
  • Application Process: Suitably qualified candidates should apply using an online scholarship application.
