Anglia Ruskin is a public research university located in the UK, in the East of England. Its roots lie in the Cambridge School of Art (CSA), founded by Sir William John Beamont, a fellow of Trinity College at the University of Cambridge, while the Inaugural address was delivered by John Ruskin, who is often mistaken as the founder of Anglia University. In 1992, it was recognized as a university, its motto is the Latin word Excellentia per societatem, which means “Excellence through Partnership in English”.
It has a long rich history, earlier in the 1960s, the Institution known as the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology (CCAT). In 1989 it merged with Chelmer Institute of Higher Education and Essex Technical College to form Anglia Higher Education College. Then in 1991, it became a Polytechnic College renowned as Anglia Polytechnic College. After a long period of 9 years, It proposed a name change but desired to keep the abbreviation ‘APU’ recommended ‘Anglia Prior University’ but eventually ended up with adopting the surname of Sir John Ruskin and became “Anglia Prior University”, this change came into force only after the approval from the Privy council on 29th of September 2005.
Later in 2007, APU allied with the London College of Accountancy and the outcome was ARU London.
ARU became the first university in the UK to sign UNISON's Anti-Racism charter in October 2023. In 2024, it merged with Writtle University College and grow- into ARU Writtle.

Tuition fees for Undergraduate programs for home students at ARU charge a maximum amount of £9,535 per annum, while for international students’ fee for undergraduate courses ranges between £16,700 and £17,500, depending upon the type of course chosen by students.
Tuition fees for Postgraduate Programs: Fees for Home students start from £9,800 to £11,100. In the case of international students, ARU charges a minimum of £17,500 and goes as high as £19,500.
Research Programs: For research programs, university fees are £15,900 while in some research courses, a bench fee is applicable along with the tuition fee. But for UK home students’ fee for a full-time research program is £4,786 per annum.

*International Undergraduate Scholarship:- Under this scholarship, there are two types of awards granted based on the status of your application.
The first one is a Lower-value scholarship of up to £4000. In this students will receive £2000 in 1st year & £1000 each in later years of study up to a maximum of three years, subject to eligibility.
*Writtle campus students are automatically eligible for £2000 in the first year of study.
The second one is a Higher award of up to £7000, under this students will receive £4000 in 1st year & £1000 each in further years of study up to a maximum of three years, subject to eligibility.
Eligibility:-
Applicant must be an international tuition fee payer enrolled in one of ARU`s core campuses except the London campus for a full-time bachelor's degree.
Note: Only available for fresh applicants & not for ARU graduates.
*International Early Payment Discount:- If you fully pay your tuition fee by Friday, right before commencing of teaching. Then you can avail of a discount of £1000 in your 1st yr. Of Study. Also, you can combine it with other available scholarships up to £4,000.
*Sports Scholarship: Two types of scholarship are offered under sports scholarship, one is podium level, another one is elite level, ranging from £1,400 up to £12,500 per year. It is applicable for all, including home students, EU, and international students. It covers the full-time duration of a degree course. This scholarship is offered to basketball & volleyball students who are competing at the highest level, but in some exceptional situations, it is also offered to those who are participating in individual sports.

Anglia Ruskin University Visa
A tier-4 visa is required to study a full-time course at Anglia Ruskin University. Initially, you need to obtain a CAS reference number, the CAS certificate is the most important document that is required to proceed with a student visa application.
Application for a visa involves several complex steps, including proof of English Language proficiency, proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees as well as living expenses, academic transcripts, along with personal documents like a passport.
Gather all the necessary documents and start early as CAS is valid for 6 months. In addition to these, an SOP (statement of purpose), LOR & updated CV are also mandatory.
